The High Coast is Sweden´s only coastal area with cliffs - this unique geology being the main reason for the area becoming a part of the World Heritage. No other part of Sweden´s coastline was pressed down by the ice so much; and when this pressure melted away, the land rose unusually fast. Today, land elevation is still continuing at a fast rate - 1 metre in 100 years.
